Challenges in the NK Cell Workflow: From Preparation to Clinical Application

1. Fresh NK cells have better efficacy than cryopreserved NK cells, making fresh preparations the preferred option.

2. Each preparation of fresh NK cells requires a new blood draw, which has poor client acceptance.

3. If frozen PBMCs or CBMCs are used, the limited seed cell supply only allows for one or two fresh preparations, and the efficiency of NK cell culture from frozen mononuclear cells is low.

4. Cultured NK cells exhibit poor viability after thawing and are difficult to culture again.

5. For conventional NK cell banking services, if peripheral blood is stored for years, one unit of PBMCs can only produce one or two NK cell doses for wellness or therapy, which is of limited value. There is an urgent need to solve the technical challenges in NK cell seed stock cryopreservation, recovery, and reculture.

Comprehensive Solutions

1、Huachen Bio has launched a solution for efficient activation, expansion, culture and seed bank establishment of NK cells.

Combined with a dedicated seed bank cryopreservation medium, this solution enables the cryopreservation of NK cells on Day 8–10 after expansion.

2、Over 20–30 seed cell aliquots (1×10⁸ cells per aliquot) can be obtained from 50 ml of peripheral blood or umbilical cord blood.

3、The client only needs to undergo one blood draw; afterward, they only need to thaw the seed cells from the seed bank and perform reculture and expansion again to obtain fresh NK cell preparations for anti-aging or treatment purposes.
